ACLU files lawsuit against Trump administration
The American Civil Liberties Union and others have submitted a suit against the Trump administration, the Associated Press reports, declaring authorities broke the civil rights of protesters who were powerfully removed from a park near the White Home by cops using chemical agents prior to US President Donald Trump walked to a neighboring church to take a photo.
The suit was filed Thursday in federal court in Washington. It argues that Trump, Attorney-General William Barr and other authorities “unlawfully conspired to violate” the protesters’ rights when clearing Lafayette Park on Monday.
The claim was filed on behalf of the group Black Lives Matter DC, and specific protesters who remained in Lafayette Park on Monday evening.
Previously in the week Mr Trump said on Twitter that “individuals liked my walk”.
