Professor Paul Kelly states he understands the tower blocks under lockdown ‘very well’
The Performing Chief Medical Officer states his kid used to live “within eyesight” of a few of them.
He includes: “The way [the increase in cases in Victoria] will come under control is very clear, we understand how to do that, it is led by the information.
” Testing, trace and isolate [are] important and essential public health responses.
“[The public housing tower block lockdown] could be viewed as a significant escalation in what is being done and this is the very first time in Australia this has been done, the lockdown of those public real estate towers … [but] the tower lockdown resembles methods in other parts of the world such as New York, China and in Europe.”
Professor Kelly says an emergency situation teleconference conference of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee will be called this night to discuss Victoria’s rise in coronavirus cases.

Australia has taped 113 brand-new cases in last 24 hours, 108 of which are from Victoria, and 5 cases from NSW, the latter of which were acquired overseas.

Potential for tower obstructs to be locked down for longer if residents decline screening
The Premier says it’s anticipated that citizens will agree to be tested.
However if they don’t, he adds: “Then obviously the prospective difficult lockdown has to run longer … certainly for those locals who aren’t prepared to be tested.
