Recent reports have revealed that US President- elect Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to delay the potential ban on TikTok which was all set to take place on the date of January 19, just before his inauguration.

According to The Hill, Jake Auchincloss who is a member of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party eventually placed an argument that the latest stance of US President-elect Donald Trump might be driven by flattery and ‘soft corruption’ within his team. Additionally, he also emphasized on the importance of Congress standing firm on the original bill signed by US President Joe Biden which actually required ByteDance to divest from TikTok or ultimately face a ban.

The situation has drawn significant attention to potential lobbying efforts with former Donald Trump adviser named Kellyanne Conway reportedly being paid to lobby for TikTok, asserted The Hill. At the same time, Republican mega donor Jeff Yass, who actually holds a significant stake in ByteDance is connected to the influential Club for Growth.
