(AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes, File) The Associated Press By JOHN ANTCZAK, Associated Press LOS ANGELES (AP)– The president of the Los Angeles City Council resigned from the post Monday after she was heard making racist remarks and other coarse remarks in a dripped recording of a discussion with other Latino leaders. Council President Nury Martinez provided an apology and revealed embarassment. “In the end, it is not my apologies that matter most; it will be the actions I draw from this day forward. I hope that you will provide me the chance to apologize,” she stated in a declaration. “Therefore, reliable right away I am resigning as President of the Los Angeles City Council.” The declaration did not state she would resign her council seat. There was no instant reaction to a call and e-mail sent out to her workplace. Political Cartoons Martinez stated in the tape-recorded discussion that white Councilmember Mike Bonin managed his young Black boy as if he were an “device” and explained the child as acting “Parece changuito,” or “like a monkey,” the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday. Martinez likewise described Bonin as a “little bitch” and at another point buffooned Oaxacans, the Times stated. “I see a great deal of little brief dark individuals,” Martinez stated in referral to a specific location of the mainly Hispanic Koreatown community. “I resembled, I do not understand where these individuals are from, I do not understand what town they came (from), how they got here,” Martinez stated, including “Tan feos”– “They’re awful.” The recording’s material rocked the political facility simply weeks prior to elections for the mayor’s workplace and a number of council seats.
