Mohammed Shami’s absence was felt strongly as India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade. Despite returning to domestic cricket, the seasoned fast bowler was unable to play the five-match series owing to knee swelling.
Jasprit Bumrah stood out as a lone warrior for the Indian cricket team, putting them in contention for much of the series. He got 32 wickets in nine innings, but by the end, his body had given out, preventing him from bowling in the second innings of the Sydney Test.
According to reports, Bumrah has been ruled out of the forthcoming one-day international series against England, creating worries over his availability for the Champions Trophy.
