Victoria’s testing blitz in the Melbourne areas labelled coronavirus hotspots remains a key part of the state’s strategy to get on top of recent outbreaks.
Premier Daniel Andrews said 113,000 tests had now been conducted since the state announced its “suburban testing blitz” just under one week ago.
Considering Victoria has conducted 830,271 tests since January 1, it shows the significance of the recent blitz, which accounts for more than 13 per cent of the 2020 total.
Mr Andrews thanked the thousands of Victorians who had presented for testing, and said they were making “a powerful contribution to the fight against this virus”.
He said another 20,682 tests were conducted yesterday.
