Movsar Evloev doesn’t believe there’s anything left for him to prove following his UFC London win over Lerone Murphy.
Evloev and Murphy collided inside The O2 Arena in London this past Saturday. While the fight wasn’t a guaranteed featherweight title eliminator, the general consensus was that the winner would be deserving of a shot against current champion Alexander Volkanovski.
Following five rounds of competitive action, Evloev was awarded the majority decision win. After improving his pro MMA record to 20-0, the No. 1-ranked UFC featherweight told reporters that it’s time for him to fight for the top 145-pound prize (via MMAJunkie).
“I had nine victories (in the UFC) before this fight, and mostly I used my wrestling. But like I’ve said before many times, my striking is also good,” Evloev said. “Maybe even if I can’t finish, if I show my striking skills, maybe it will be the key to getting the title shot. (It was) against a good striker in his land, an undefeated guy, so what else? Let’s fight for the title.”
Evloev missed all of 2025 after a unanimous decision win over Aljamain Sterling in late 2024. While many felt he was deserving of a title opportunity, Diego Lopes ended up getting two title fights against Volkanovski. This drew the ire of fight fans, but perhaps Evloev has done enough this time in the eyes of the UFC brass.
Jean Silva was in attendance to witness Evloev vs. Murphy. Footage surfaced of Silva handing UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell a mock contract, signaling he wasn’t impressed with the bout and feels he should fight Volkanovski instead. “Lord” has been stoking the flames of a potential feud with Volkanovski ever since his Fighting Nerds teammate Mauricio Ruffy trained with “The Great.”
