( Reuters) – The NBA’s Board of Governors have approved a strategy to restart the suspended season with a tentative July 31 start at Disney World in Florida in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the league stated on Thursday.

The plan would see 22 of the NBA’s 30 groups play eight seeding games to determine a 16- group playoff field that would follow the standard post-season format with 4 best-of-seven series that would crown a champ no later than Oct.12
” While the COVID-19 pandemic provides formidable challenges, we are hopeful of completing the season in a safe and accountable manner based upon stringent procedures now being finalized with public health authorities and medical experts,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a press release.
