The Golden Globes, one of Hollywood’s most prestigious award ceremonies, honours the best films and TV shows from across the globe. This year, the awards ceremony took place at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. The nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes were announced last month, with Emilia Perez leading the pack with 10 nods, followed closely by Wicked with four nominations.
Indians had every reason to be excited this year, as Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light has earned two major nominations—Best Motion Picture (Non-English Language) and Best Director (Motion Picture). But the film fell short of a win. You can check the complete list of winners here .
Stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the evening. Known for her sharp humour, Glaser made headlines in 2020 for her comments about pop star Taylor Swift, for which she later apologised after facing backlash from Swifties.

Golden Globe Awards updates: Best Picture (Musical/Comedy) goes to Emilia Pérez Emilia Perez continued its winning streak as it ended the awards evening on a high by winning Best Picture (Musical/Comedy).
Karla Sofía Gascón, who played a Mexican drug lord in the film, delivered an emotional speech that resonated deeply with the audience. The actor, who could make history as the first openly transgender performer nominated for an Oscar, said, “I chose this colour tonight, the Buddhist colour, because I have a message for you.” Karla was referencing the vibrant orange of her gown. “Light always triumphs over darkness. You might imprison us or harm us, but you can never take away our soul,” Karla added.
