No requirement for Sabah, Sarawak affairs ministry, states Armizan

Updated 1 hour ago · Published on 25 May 2023 2:21 PM · Establishing a Sabah and Sarawak affairs ministry will cause overlapping functions with federal ministries, states Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions Minister Armizan Mohd Ali.– Facebook picture, May 25, 2023. THERE is no requirement for an unique ministry to deal with Sabah and Sarawak affairs, as its tasks might overlap with those of existing federal ministers, stated Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions Minister Armizan Mohd Ali. He stated the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Division (SSAD) under the Prime Minister’s Department was developed in March 2020 to help with and resolve all concerns referring to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). “So for me, there should not be overlapping functions. Let the SSAD function as the secretariat so we can propose settlements in between the federal and the Sabah and Sarawak federal governments without needing to disrupt ministerial functions. “I believe we require to preserve the dedication to the empowerment and devolution of authority (of Sabah and Sarawak) without developing an unique ministry for Sabah and Sarawak affairs. “We wish to prevent overlapping functions with federal ministries, which would eventually impact efforts to degenerate powers to the Sabah and Sarawak federal governments,” he stated throughout Ministers’ Question Time at the Dewan Rakyat today. Armizan stated Putrajaya’s options to Sabah’s water concerns will not infringe on the jurisdiction, rights and interests of the state federal government. “Water is under the state’s jurisdiction as mentioned in list II, schedule 9 of the Federal Constitution. “The federal government under the management of Tambun MP (Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim) will constantly appreciate the rights and interests of state federal governments, consisting of the extra powers of Sabah and Sarawak,” he stated. The minister stated this in reaction to Lo Su Fui (Tawau-GRS), who inquired about Putrajaya’s dedication to fix Sabah’s water troubles as promised throughout the Unity Government National Convention on May 14. At the convention, Anwar supposedly stated he would speak to Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Mohd Noor and Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob to discover services to supply of water concerns in the 2 states.– Bernama, May 25, 2023.
