Jamie Robinson, director of interactions and stakeholder engagement for the Ottawa Stage 2 LRT Confederation Line Extension, stated the occurrence occurred around 7:30 a.m. and knocked out power at neighboring Tops Car Wash up until about 12 twelve noon.

There were no injuries. He stated Hydro Ottawa and authorities and fire systems were at the website.

The event took place in the parkway tunnel running under Byron Park, west of Woodroffe Avenue. A video published to Facebook appeared to reveal a fire in the tunnel.

A comparable occurrence occurred in the very same location last November, when a crane struck hydro lines, knocking out power to almost 2,300 Hydro Ottawa consumers.
