A professor who criticised China’s handling of the coronavirus crisis has actually been detained by authorities.
Xu Zhangrun, who has actually been under home arrest, was taken away from his Beijing home on Monday, good friends said.
The law teacher has previously spoken out against the Mao-like cult of character which has returned under China’s present leader, Xi Jinping.
Police have not commented openly on the arrest, and it is uncertain what charges Mr Xu faces.
