PM Modi In Japan LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Japan, arrived in Sendai city on Saturday morning. PM Modi travelled to the city with his Japanese Counterpart Shigeru Ishiba on a bullet train. The two leaders are scheduled to visit key industrial facilities, including a semiconductor plant and a bullet train coach manufacturing site, in Sendai city later in the day.
On Friday, PM Modi held summit talks with Japanese PM Ishiba with an aim to further strengthen bilateral co-operation. PM Modi arrived in Japan on August 29. During the visit, PM Modi is also expected to tour four factories, including one that manufactures a prototype of the E10 Shinkansen bullet train, which India is considering to purchase. Additionally, he is likely to sign several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering defense, trade, technology, and business cooperation.
PM Modi’s visit comes amid Donald Trump’s 50% tariffs against India, forcing New Delhi to explore other export destinations for products impacted by the US’ levies. In the second leg of the visit, PM Modi will travel to the Chinese city of Tianjin to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on August 31 and September 1.
