Prime Minister Scott Morrison insists schools will stay open– for now– as federal governments across the country face increasing heat from parents opposed to the decision.
The ABC understands absenteeism– particularly in upscale areas– is as high as 30 percent as moms and dads struggle to understand why schools ought to stay open when social distancing is being motivated elsewhere.
Mr Morrison stated he was following the suggestions of the Federal government’s health experts and young people were a low-risk group.
Closing schools would put pressure on health workers to remain at house to take care of children, and hurt the economy more broadly, he stated.
