Talking Point: Are You Playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage On Xbox Game Pass?

If so, what do you think?

Getting on for two years after its launch, Microsoft has brought Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage to Xbox Game Pass this week, with the 2023 series entry now joining the likes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on the service. So, now that it’s finally here, have you been playing AC’s fairly recent back-to-basics effort?

AC Mirage came out a few years ago as a stop-gap between the huge, sprawling RPG titles that now frequent this famous Ubisoft franchise. It was supposed to be a bit of a throwback to the AC of old, and while that approach got mixed feedback generally, we quite enjoyed our trip to Baghdad a couple of years’ back, we must admit.

Sure, it wasn’t perfect — the world didn’t feel as alive as other recent Assassin’s Creed games for one — but it was certainly refreshing to play something much smaller in scope; something manageable in this 2020s landscape of never-ending video games. Hopping around the game’s dense, compact city was also a breeze and gave us that satisfying AC feeling of old, which was a nice change of pace.

Ubisoft has taken its time bringing this one to Xbox Game Pass — the team likely waited until February’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows hit the market first — but now that it’s here, what do you think of it? Do you like this more old-school approach to Assassin’s Creed, or has Mirage been a bit of a letdown for you so far?
