Rayshard Brooks’s relatives have given an emotional press conference after the shooting death of the 27-year-old in a fast-food restaurant car park.
About 20 of Mr Brooks’s immediate and extended family members fronted a pack of reporters with a lawyer to demand “drastic change”.
Here’s what they had to say.
Treated like ‘trash in the street’
Mr Brooks’s niece Chassidy Evans spoke first, telling the media about her uncle, who was a father of three daughters and stepfather to a teenage boy.
“No-one walking this green Earth expects to be shot and killed like trash in the street for falling asleep in a drive-through,” she said.
“Rayshard has a family who loves him, who would have gladly came and got him so he could be here with us today.”
They want change, not just justice
“Not only are we hurt, we are angry. When does it stop?” Ms Evans said.
“We’re not only pleading for justice, we’re pleading for change.”
She said her uncle did not die in vain.
“I’m not only asking the city of Atlanta to stand with us,” Ms Evans said.
“I’m asking for everyone in this nation to stand with us as we seek justice for Rayshard.”
They had stood with police during George Floyd protests
Ms Evans said she was defensive of the Atlanta Police Department during the Black Lives Matter
