The altering of seasons has fuelled speculation across the world about how the weather condition will affect the spread of COVID-19, and whether the pandemic will get worse in Australia where winter is on its method.
And while specialists state it would be a “wonder” if we got away future coronavirus spikes, they say the weather condition has little to do with it.
Is there a link between weather condition and COVID-19?
There have actually been some claims the virus spreads out quicker in winter and slower in summer
However COVID-19 hasn’t been around for long enough for researchers to draw conclusive conclusions about whether temperature level impacts the virus.
Experts informed the ABC talk of a direct link between the weather condition and the spread of the infection was dubious.
Professor Michael Wallach, a professional in infectious illness from the University of Innovation Sydney, says the infection “does not appear to care about the weather condition”.
” I do not think it’s just a matter of warm or cold weather. This virus is extremely good at sending and contaminating human cells,” he stated.
” For previous pandemics, the weather apparently did not have much of an impact.
Transmittable illness epidemiologist Meru Sheel from the Australian National University seconds that.
” It’s a new illness, so we do not know whether there’s a direct link in between the weather condition and COVID-19,” Dr Sheel said.
” Although, the proof would recommend most likely not.”
