UK swears to seek ‘tough bargain’ in US trade talks

International Trade Secretary Liz Truss welcomed United States trade agent Robert Lighthizer to London last week.

The conversations will take place in both the UK and United States and be supervised by the federal government’s chief negotiation advisor Crawford Falconer – formerly New Zealand’s primary mediator and ambassador to the World Trade Company.

Turning to the EU trade talks, Ms Truss tried to resolve issues over fishing rights – the EU is demanding continued access to British waters, while the UK desires quota offers like the EU has with Norway or Iceland.
