The U.S. Commerce Department on Friday revealed sanctions versus 6 Chinese aerospace business in connection with the Chinese spy balloon that U.S. military authorities shot down last weekend after it passed through U.S. airspace. The 6 business were contributed to an export blacklist since of their links to individuals’s Liberation Army aerospace programs, “consisting of airships and balloons and associated products and parts,” according to the department. “The [People’s Republic of China’s] usage of high-altitude balloons breaches our sovereignty and threatens U.S. nationwide security,” stated undersecretary of commerce for market and security Alan Estevez. “Today’s action explains that entities that look for to hurt U.S. nationwide security and sovereignty will be cut off from accessing U.S. innovations.” The relocation follows U.S. military shot down the Chinese spy balloon over the Atlantic Ocean over the weekend. The balloon was supposedly utilized “for intelligence and reconnaissance activities” that threaten U.S. nationwide security interests.
