US condemns attack on Afghan maternity ward

2 babies and 12 moms and nurses were killed when numerous shooters stormed the healthcare facility on Tuesday early morning.

On The Other Hand, in the eastern province of Nangarhar, a battle at a funeral killed at least 26 individuals.

In the wake of the attacks, President Ashraf Ghani said he was ordering the resumption of offensive operations versus the Taliban and other groups.

He implicated the militants of neglecting duplicated require a decrease in violence.

The Islamic State (IS) group stated it lagged the attack on a police commander’s funeral in Nangarhar, in the east of the country. It is still unclear who performed the attack at the Dasht-e-Barchi hospital, and the Taliban have rejected any involvement.

What occurred at the healthcare facility?

The Kabul attack started at about 10: 00 (05: 30 GMT) on Tuesday, and locals explained hearing two blasts then gunfire. One medical professional who fled during the attack told the BBC about 140 people remained in the health center when the gunmen attacked.

A maternity ward in the health center is run by the international medical charity Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) and a few of those working there are foreigners.

Another physician informed AFP news company that “total panic” took hold as the attack unfolded.

Ramazan Ali, a vendor who saw the attack start, told Reuters news firm: “The aggressors were contending anyone in this medical facility with no factor … It’s a federal government medical facility, and a great deal of people generate their ladies and kids for treatment.”

Afghan unique forces rescued 100 women and kids, including 3 immigrants, an official told the BBC. The aggressors, who reportedly had accessed impersonated policemans, were all killed by security workers
