Victoria reimposed lockdown measures in the state last month after a spike in coronavirus cases.

The Australian state of Victoria has declared a state of disaster and enforced new lockdown measures after a rise in coronavirus infections.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said the limitations would come into impact on Sunday at 18: 00 (09: 00 BST).

Under the new guidelines, locals of the state capital Melbourne will go through a night-time curfew.

The city’s stay-at-home order will be enhanced, providing locals less exemptions for leaving home.

Locals will not be enabled to take a trip further than 5 km (3.1 miles) from their home, exercise will be limited to when a day, and a single person will have the ability to go shopping for fundamentals at a time.

After early success in suppressing the infection, Australia has had fewer cases than numerous other countries, tape-recording about 17,000 infections and 200 deaths.

But cases are increasing rapidly in Victoria, representing many of Australia’s new infections in current weeks, prompting the return of lockdown restrictions in early July.

On Sunday, the state reported 671 brand-new coronavirus cases and 7 deaths. Those boosts brought the totals to 11,557 infections and 123 deaths.

Mr Andrews stated the lockdown measures presented in Victoria – Australia’s second most populous state – were working but too slowly.

” We must do more. We need to go harder. It’s the only method we’ll get to the opposite of this,” Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Mr Andrews stated the changes to lockdown rules announced on Sunday will stay in place till a minimum of 13 September.

What are the brand-new limitations?

Mr Andrews said Melbourne will move into stage-four constraints on Sunday, putting more limitations on the motion of people.

That will include a night-time curfew, which will be implemented across Melbourne from 20: 00 to 05:
