When does Wednesday season 2 come out? It’s the question fans have been wondering ever since the hit Netflix series starring Jenna Ortega as the gloomiest member of the Addams Family was renewed for a second season.
In a January 6 , 2023, Facebook video announcing a slate of returning series, Netflix dropped the news of the show’s return, writing, “Wednesday has been officially renewed for Season 2! And that’s not the only one….” The company also shared a Wednesday-centric YouTube video on the same day.
“Over the past few weeks, I have been hunted, haunted, and mimicked millions of times across the internet,” Wednesday says in the video, referencing her iconic dance, which was choreographed by Ortega and has inspired countless TikTok videos and a particularly impressive ice-skating routine. “It’s been pure torture….Thank you.”
“We are thrilled that the entire Addams family will be enrolling in Nevermore Academy this season along with a dream cast of icons and new faces,” says Al Gough and Miles Millar, who are the series creators, writers, and showrunners.
Here’s everything we know about Wednesday season 2.
When does Wednesday season 2 come out? We have good news and bad news, so let’s start with the positive: Wednesday returns sooner than you think, on August 6, 2025, per Netflix. But the streaming service is dividing the series into two parts, which means you won’t be able to finish season 2 until the second half drops on September 3, 2025.
How many episodes? Season one stuck to Netflix’s typical eight-episode model. According to Netflix, season two will also be eight episodes. Part one includes episodes 201 through 204, while part two will be episodes 205 through 208.
Who is in the cast? (Warning: Spoilers for season one ahead.) Considering that the entire show is about Wednesday Addams, and that Ortega has already lent her voice to the season two announcement, we already knew she will return for season two. Ortega is also set to be a producer on season two. Wednesday’s Nevermore classmates Enid (Emma Myers) and Bianca (Joy Sunday) will also return, as will former love interest Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan).
Considering how much fun Catherine Zeta-Jones had while promoting the series, we’re happy to hear that Morticia Addams and her loving husband, Gomez (Luis Guzmán), will return and have been upped to series regulars. Other series regulars include Isaac Ordonez, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, and Victor Dorobantu (as Thing).
Joining the show as new series regulars: Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor. Expect to see several guest stars as well, including Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Fred Armisen, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.
Expect way more Addams Family lore. “This year, we’re bringing the family to Nevermore,” executive producer Tim Burton said in a featurette shared on May 20, 2025. “Your family at school is the worst thing possible isn’t it?”
Is there an official trailer yet? We’ll do you one better. On May 31, Netflix unveiled the first six minutes of the season two premiere during their 2025 TUDUM live fan event—and the series doesn’t quite pick up where season one left off. Before we get to see Wednesday return to Nevermore, Netflix caught us up on her summer break.
In the video, we see Wednesday (and Thing) face off against a serial killer played by Haley Joel Osment after attempting to take a boatload of weapons through Newark Airport security… The teaser is both dark and funny, setting the tone for season two and laying the groundwork that Wednesday is experiencing a “psychic glitch” that makes her bleed from the eyes.
