If you are wondering why Kiccha Sudeep and Ajay Devgn are trending, let us tell you that it is has something to do with India’s national language. The debate between the two actors started when a discussion about Hindi being India’s national language opened up. Things escalated quickly with each response by the two actors, making it the talk of the town.
It all started when Sudeep made a statement at an KGF: Chapter 2 event. He stated “Hindi is no more a national language” to prove the reach and acceptance some South Indian films have had in the recent times. In an exclusive interview with KarnatakaTak, the actor has stated, “Because we come from South India, they started terming us ‘pan-India’. Why isn’t Hindi [cinema] being said as pan-India? Which is getting a better response from audiences today?”

He added, “Someone said that a Pan-India film (KGF: 2) was made in Kannada. I’d like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it’s (the success) not happening. Today we are making films that are going everywhere.”
Ajay Devgn seem to have been offended by this comment and he took to Twitter and replied to Sudeep, in Hindi. He asked why regional films get dubbed in Hindi if it was not a national language. The tweet roughly read, “Kiccha Sudeep, my brother, according to you, if Hindi is not our national language then why do you release your native language [mother tongue] films by dubbing them in Hindi? Hindi was, is and always will be our mother tongue and national language. Jan Gan Man.”

Sudeep replied to the Runway 34 director, saying, “Hello @ajaydevgn sir.. the context to why I said that line is entirely different to the way I guess it has reached you. Probably will emphasis on why the statement was made when I see you in person. It wasn’t to hurt, Provoke or to start any debate. Why would I sir.”

This exchange naturally made way for comments and opinions. Sonu Sood spoke about the debate between Kiccha Sudeep and Ajay Devgn and told IndianExpress.com, “I don’t think Hindi can be called just the national language. India has one language, which is entertainment. It doesn’t really matter which industry you belong to. If you entertain people, they will love you, honour you and accept you.”
Ram Gopal Varma didn’t mince his words. He took to Twitter and said, “The base undeniable ground truth @KicchaSudeep sir ,is that the north stars are insecure and jealous of the south stars because a Kannada dubbing film #KGF2 had a 50 crore opening day and we all are going to see the coming opening days of Hindi films.”
