By Kanu Sarda: Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud on Wednesday established a 2 lady judge bench making up Justices Hima Kohli and Bela M Trivedi, for the 3rd time in history.

The bench of Justices Kohli and Trivedi will hear a batch of cases referring to the transfer of cases along with matrimonial cases, that includes 10 transfer petitions including matrimonial conflicts and followed by 10 bail matters.

It remained in 2013 when the leading court had an all-woman bench when Justices Gyan Sudha Misra and Ranjana Prakash Desai sat together.

At present, the pinnacle court has just 3 females judges: Justices Kohli, B V Nagarathna, and Trivedi. Justice B V Nagarthana will end up being Chief Justice of India in 2027 for 36 days.

The Supreme Court now has a working strength of 27 judges, versus an approved strength of34

In 2020, the Chief Justice of Madras High Court Amreshwar Pratap Sahi constituted its first-ever all-women complete Bench (making up 3 judges) to address a referral made to it by a department bench (making up 2 judges).
