British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak held up a mirror to the Chinese government in his first major foreign policy address after taking office. Sunak has described China’s growing despotism as a big challenge to Britain’s values and its interests. In such a situation, he said that the golden era of Britain’s relations with China is over.
Sunak said during the Lord Mayor’s annual banquet in London that Britain will stand up against global competitors like China. This will not be just at the level of rhetoric but will also be practical. He said that for this Britain will further promote relations with its like-minded allies America, Canada, Australia and Japan.

Sunak said that we are fully committed to enhance relations with the Indo-Pacific region. As a part of this, we are considering to bring FTA with India.

Sunak said that we stand firmly with Ukraine against Russia. We will take a fresh look at our relations with European countries to deal with challenges like security and illegal immigration.
He said that we are also going to increase our military aid to Ukraine next year. We are going to provide many modern weapons to the people of Ukraine for their safety.
