58 members authorized or supported by the BJP have been elected Zilla Parishad members by winning the election. In terms of the number of Zilla Parishad members, the number of Congress comes after the ruling BJP. Congress candidates have been successful in getting elected as Zilla Parishad members by winning elections from 26 wards. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party of Delhi and Punjab has also registered its presence in the Haryana Panchayat elections.
Six candidates of Aam Aadmi Party have been victorious. Similarly, Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party, an important constituent of the state’s ruling coalition, has also won 15 wards of the Zilla Parishad. Karan Chautala of Indian National Lok Dal has been elected Zilla Parishad member from Sirsa. The Indian National Lok Dal has also hoisted the victory flag in six wards.
Bahujan Samaj Party has also won elections in five wards. BJP has suffered a major setback in Panchkula and Gurugram. BJP could not even open its account in Panchkula. In all the 10 wards of Panchkula, BJP candidates had to face a crushing defeat and the party could not even open its account. Similarly, independent candidates have won in six wards of Gurugram, adjacent to the national capital Delhi.
However, BJP remained dominant in Bhiwani district. BJP candidates from 16 wards in Bhiwani were successful in reaching the district parliament by winning the elections. If we add the seats of JJP, the coalition partner in the government of the state along with BJP, then a total of 73 candidates of the ruling parties have been elected as Zilla Parishad members after winning the elections.
