Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been detained for protesting against a German coal mine. The local police officer told that Greta Thunberg had joined the group of protesters who were protesting to save the village of Germany.

According to reports, thousands of activists had gathered at the site to protest. Police had removed protesters hiding in underground tunnels and buildings until last week, but some protesters, including Thunberg, remained on strike until Tuesday.

Thunberg was detained during a protest at a coal mine about 9 kilometers (5.6 mi) from Luetzerth. Thunberg was seen sitting alone in a large police bus after being taken into custody.

According to Reuters, a policeman said that Greta has been detained. Along with this, an appeal has been made to the protesting group to please cooperate with the police investigation.

A spokesman for the Aachen police said that Greta Thunberg was among a group of workers and that she, upon seeing the police, ran to a ledge while the worker jumped into the mine.

Swedish climate activist Thunberg addressed some 6,000 protesters who marched towards Lützerath on Saturday, calling the expansion of the mine a “betrayal of present and future generations”. He said that Germany is one of the biggest polluters in the world and should be held accountable.
