Meerut: Blast due to leakage of ammonia gas in cold storage, roof under construction collapsed, 7 people died

A major accident took place due to the collapse of the under-construction roof of a cold storage in Daurala, Meerut. 7 people died in this horrific accident. While 20 people were injured. After the accident, there was a stir on the spot. As soon as the roof fell, there was chaos on the spot. The police was informed about the accident. Police said that orders have been given to investigate the accident. Along with this, a team of NDRF also reached the spot.

According to the police, the explosion occurred due to leakage of ammonia gas inside the cold storage used to store potatoes. Due to this, the under-construction roof fell. He said that all the victims are residents of Udhampur in Jammu.

Meerut District Magistrate Deepak Meena said that seven workers at the site were killed when the roof collapsed. While the injured workers were rescued and sent to the hospital. The DM said that we have formed a committee and sought a report on the incident within 24 hours. Further action will be taken on the basis of this report. According to officials, out of the 20 injured, 12 have been discharged while eight are still hospitalized.

Zonal officer Ashish Sharma said that the roof of a cold storage under construction collapsed. The workers and laborers working there got buried under the debris. He told that the police have not yet been able to identify the deceased.
