Mumbai Indians won the inaugural WPL last month – BCCI

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) might be played in the home-away format from the next edition with a larger window, more than likely throughout the Diwali duration, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated on Friday.

“We are mulling the possibility of arranging the WPL, in the house and away format, in the Diwali window; not 2 seasons in a year however simply a various time window,” Shah stated throughout an interaction with mediapersons.

“Women’s cricket now has a devoted audience base and this number will just keep growing as we anticipate a motivating turnout at the next WPL.”

The inaugural edition of the five-team competition was held from March 4 to 26 this year throughout 2 locations in Mumbai. It ended simply 5 days prior to the IPL 2023 season started in March, and drew in huge crowds in Mumbai, specifically at the DY Patil Stadium and throughout the knockouts.
