NEW DELHI: India, the world’s second-biggest sugar manufacturer, extended its export limitations in a restored quote to secure domestic materials, a relocation that’s most likely to tighten up the international market and raise expenses for the food market. The federal government will continue its curbs on abroad deliveries of the sweetener beyond October 31, according to a notification from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade on Wednesday, validating a Bloomberg News report recently. India presented a quota system in 2022-23 and minimal sugar exports to about 6 million loads after late rains cut production, compared to an unlimited 11 million loads a year previously. It’s uncertain at this phase the size of the quota, if any, for abroad deliveries that will be assigned to millers for 2023-24.
