Ammunitions maker Munitions India’s export orders swell to 6,000 crore

India’s defence exports to leading 20,000 crore in 2023-24 Munitions India Ltd, the general public sector bomb-maker, states its items remain in terrific need abroad. It has export orders worth 6,000 crore, to be provided over the next 3 years. The Pune-headquartered business, which was formed in November 2021 when the Ordnance Factory Board was reorganised into 7 Defence PSUs, produces bullets, shells, mortars, rockets and hand grenades at its 12 producing systems. “Every nation requires ammo,” Gnaneshwar Tyagi, Chief General Manager, High Energy Projectile Factory, MIL, informed businessline today, including that amongst the leading abroad consumers are the UAE, Vietnam “and one European nation” which he did not want to call. “They (MIL) are resting on a cash cow,” stated P. S. Unni Raj, Joint Director, Export Promotion Cell, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Tyagi and Raj took part in the ‘International Engineering Sourcing Show’ arranged in Coimbatore by the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC). The outreach program intends to sensitise MSMEs about the possibility of providing to the Defence. Rs 20,000 crore in 2023-24 Raj stated India’s exports of defence items would cross 20,000 crore in 2023-24 to touch 25,000 crore in 2024-25, and 35,000 crore in the list below year.
