Electoral Bonds: BJD got over Rs 900 crore, Aditya Birla Group tops list

The judgment Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha got contributions worth Rs 944.5 crore through electoral bonds. The Aditya Birla Group topped the list of donors with a Rs 260 crore contribution to the ruling celebration in Odisha through its associate business. Based on the report, Essel Mining and Industries Limited, a partner of the Aditya Birla Group, contributed Rs 174.5 crore to the BJD in 4 instalments. Birla Group’s other associate business, Utkal Alumina contributed Rs 55 crore in 4 stages. Grasim Industries and Birla Carbon India Limited contributed Rs 20 crore and Rs 10 crore, respectively. To name a few, Jindal Steel and Power Limited contributed Rs 95 crore in 3 instalments. Jindal Stainless Steel, Rungta Sons, SN Mohanty Group, Vedanta, Rashmi Cement, Penguin Trading & Agency, Odisha Metaliks, and Kaipee Enterprises contributed Rs 45 crore, Rs 50 crore, Rs 45 crore, Rs 40 crore, Rs 45 crore, 30 crore, Rs 9 crore and Rs 10 crore, respectively.
