More than 50 hospitals in Mumbai… Hinduja College receives bomb threat

More than 50 hospitals in Mumbai and Hinduja College of Commerce at Charni Road received bomb threats via email on Tuesday morning, after which bomb squads and police teams reached these establishments for search operations. The sender of the email has claimed that bombs have been planted under the beds and in the bathrooms of the hospitals, which will explode in some time. Police said that these emails were sent using VPN networks.

Mumbai’s Jaslok Hospital, Raheja Hospital, Seven Hills Hospital, Kohinoor Hospital, KEM Hospital, JJ Hospital, St. George and other hospitals received bomb threat emails. These emails were sent from a website called Beeble.com. As soon as the hospitals received the threat email, they informed the police about it. Bomb squad and police teams conducted a search operation in the hospitals, but no suspicious object was found.

Apart from this, Mumbai’s BMC headquarters has received a threatening email. An unknown person has threatened to blow up the headquarters with a bomb. The police investigated the BMC headquarters, but nothing suspicious was found. Further investigation is going on in this matter.

The police have not yet been able to find any information about who sent this email and from where. It is not clear what is the motive behind sending the threatening email. Dr. Meenu B Madlani, Principal of Hinduja College of Commerce, said, ‘We received the threat through email. I informed the VP Police Station and my management about it. The police conducted a thorough investigation along with the bomb squad and found that the threat was a rumour.’

In the recent past, similar threats have been sent to many colleges and schools in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh via email. In the month of May, bomb threat emails were sent to about 100 schools and 15 colleges in Delhi and Noida. According to the police, all the threatening emails were sent from a single ID linked to a website named Beeble.com, whose server is located in Cyprus. The authorities have started investigating the matter seriously.
