After talking to the junior doctors sitting on strike, Mamata government has accepted their demands and removed the Director of Medical Education and Director of Health Services. Mamta assured the doctors that the CP will be removed by 4 pm on Tuesday and a new CP will take charge in place of Vineet Goyal. Also, there will be many big changes after the SC hearing on Tuesday. The doctors had made five demands from the Mamata government, out of which the government has accepted three.

At the same time, after the government’s decision, the doctors have announced in a press conference that they will continue the strike, because their entire demands have not been accepted yet.

The Chief Minister said that the Deputy Commissioner (North) of Kolkata Police, against whom the victim’s family had alleged bribery, would also be removed. Seeing the demands of junior doctors, Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal said in the meeting that he is ready to resign. Vineet will hand over the responsibility to the new CP at 4 pm.”

‘No action will be taken against doctors’

The Chief Minister said the meeting was ‘positive’ and the government accepted three of the five demands put forward by the doctors and appealed to the junior doctors to return to work. He said, “I have appealed to the agitating doctors to return to work as three of their five demands have been accepted… No punitive action will be taken against the protesting doctors.”

At the same time, Mamata government has formed a committee under the leadership of the Chief Secretary to hear all the matters related to the health sector infrastructure and said that we have also decided to remove the Deputy Commissioner (North).

Doctors’ five-point demand

1. Videography of the meeting should be done by separate videographers from both the sides. If this is not possible…
2. The entire video of the meeting should be immediately handed over to the representatives of WBJDF. If this is not possible…
3. The minutes and complete transcript of the meeting should be recorded and prepared by both the parties (WBJDF will bring its own minutes and transcript preparers) and signed by all present, as the CM had said earlier.
4. Transparency of the meeting is necessary.
5. The place of meeting should be an official and administrative place.
