Michael “Mad Mike” Hoare, commonly thought about the world’s most popular mercenary, has actually died aged 100.
Born in India to Irish parents, he led campaigns in the Congo in the 1960 s that made him fame at the time, and a controversial tradition years later.
His career reached a humiliating end in 1981, when he was imprisoned for leading a failed coup in the Seychelles.
Mr Hoare’s boy, Chris Hoare, said in a declaration that his daddy passed away in a care center in Durban, South Africa.
” Mike Hoare lived by the approach that you get more out of life by living alarmingly, so it is even more impressive that he lived more than 100 years,” he stated.
Accountant turned mercenary
After serving in the British Army during the 2nd World War and reaching the rank of significant, Mr Hoare began his post-war career as an accounting professional, running numerous small businesses in South Africa.
But it was in 1961 that he was introduced to Moïse Tshombe – a Congolese political leader and entrepreneur who would go on to become prime minister of the Congo three years later on.
