Cricket latest
Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin took to social media to address a statement made by his father, Ravichandran Narayanaswamy, that had sparked speculation about Ashwin’s sudden announcement of retirement from all forms of cricket.
In a conversation with the national media, Ashwin’s father remarked, “Humiliation was going on, and how long could he be expected to tolerate it?” The statement quickly gained traction, with fans and media linking it to potential tensions within the team, especially regarding Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
Ashwin, however, diffused the situation in his signature humorous style. Responding on social media, he wrote:
“My dad isn’t media trained, dey father enna da ithelaam 😂😂. I never thought you would follow this rich tradition of ‘dad statements’ 🤣. Request you all to forgive him and leave him alone 🙏.”
With this lighthearted response, Ashwin put an end to the swirling rumors and speculation, clarifying that there was no hidden controversy.
This episode is reminiscent of a similar situation involving former cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, who had once blamed MS Dhoni for his son’s exclusion from the 2015 Cricket World Cup squad. Ashwin’s candid and witty approach, however, ensured that this incident didn’t escalate further.
Ashwin’s ability to tackle sensitive issues with humor is yet another reason why he remains a fan favorite both on and off the field.
Sudden retirement gave us a shock, Ashwin was humiliated so he retired.
