Bangladeshi infiltration is also becoming an issue before the assembly elections in Delhi. Now Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) has come into action in this matter. MCD Deputy Commissioner has issued a notice to the schools asking them to identify illegal Bangladeshi students in the schools.
In the order issued to the Education Department of MCD, it has been said that the encroachment done by illegal Bangladeshi immigrants should be removed immediately. This order has been issued to all areas of MCD. Apart from this, the MCD has ordered the Public Health Department to ensure that birth certificates should not be issued to newborn children whose parents are illegal Bangladeshis. It has been asked to submit an action report in this regard by 31 December 2024.

What decision did MCD take?
MCD deputy commissioner (headquarters) BP Bhardwaj said the education department should take appropriate measures to identify illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and prevent them from taking admission in municipal schools. He also directed that proper verification drive should be conducted to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrant students already studying in schools
In this meeting, the issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants was discussed and the concerned department heads and regional officers of MCD were asked to take some preventive measures.
The MCD also directed the Public Health Department to adopt appropriate precautionary preventive measures during birth registration and issuance of birth certificates so that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants can be prevented from obtaining birth certificates. It said an identification/verification drive should also be conducted to identify whether birth certificates have already been issued to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
