The court has sentenced 7 culprits to death in a heart-wrenching murder case in Hooghly district of West Bengal. In this barbaric crime that took place in 2020, a young man named Vishnu Mal was murdered, six pieces of his body were stuffed in a plastic bag and thrown here and there. This murder had created a sensation in the area.
This case is related to Vishal Das, a notorious criminal of Chuchuda area, who had kidnapped Vishnu Mal on the suspicion of having an affair with his girlfriend. After this, Vishal and his associates together brutally murdered Vishnu. The police had to put in a lot of effort to solve the mystery of the murder. The body pieces were collected from different places and sent for forensic examination. This murder took place on October 11, 2020 due to a love affair.

After a hearing that lasted for four years, Hooghly District Court Judge Shankar Ghosh sentenced seven accused to death. One accused received a sentence of 7 years, while another became a government witness. Let us tell you, it was not easy for the police to arrest the main accused Vishal Das. When the police reached Jeevatala area of South 24 Parganas to arrest him, the accused attacked the police.
Three people were injured in the firing from both sides, but the police was successful in arresting Vishal. Judge Shib Shankar Ghosh awarded death sentence to seven convicts Bishal Das, Ramakrishna Mandal, Rathin Singh, Rajkumar Pramanik, Ratan Bapari, Binod Das and Biplab Biswas. Another convict, Mantu Ghosh, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
After the murder, the body was thrown here and there in pieces.
Government lawyer Bibhas Chatterjee said that it was a struggle of about three and a half years. It was the rarest case of murder in the first fast track court. We were successful in convincing the court about the cruelty of this case. Therefore the judge sentenced all seven to death. Kunti Mal, mother of deceased Vishnu Mal, expressed satisfaction over the court’s decision and said that it has increased her faith in justice.
While giving information about this, Police Commissioner Amit P Jabalgi said that due to the continuous hard work of the investigating officers and the prosecution lawyers, the way was paved for the accused who committed this sensational murder to be hanged. The Commissioner said that this historic decision of the court will strengthen the confidence of the common people on law and order. Criminals will get scared before committing such a crime.
