Before this he had also been the Mayor of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

The results of 288-member assembly in Maharashtra were declared on 23 November. Mahayuti has got a huge majority. Mahayuti has secured 233 seats. BJP has won 132 seats, Shiv Sena 57 and NCP 41 seats. Shiv Sena MLA Gulabrao Patil claimed that if Ajit Pawar’s NCP had not been part of the alliance, the Eknath Shinde-led party could have won 90-100 seats in the elections. Shiv Sena had contested elections on only 85 seats.
