AYANEO announced its first Android gaming tablet along with a more traditional handheld console – these are the first devices to be powered by the new Snapdragon G3 Gen 3. The company describes this as a “gaming pad”, so let’s try not to call it a “tablet”. And its name is… the AYANEO Gaming Pad. There’s also the Pocket S2, which we will get to in a minute.
The Gaming Pad features an 8.3” 120Hz LCD with 1440p resolution. This almost maxes out the G3 chip, which can go up to 1440p @ 144Hz. The display is set inside an all-metal frame and, for the Explorer Edition, there is a transparent glass back.
Back to the chipset, it is actively cooled by a fan and uses high-efficiency thermal materials to optimize the system. This promises stable performance even during long gaming sessions.
While the AYANEO Gaming Pad can be used on its own, it shines when paired with the telescopic gaming controller. Other controllers are supported, including even keyboards and mice (it’s Android, after all).
