Indian death due to Jordan’s security forces bullets, trying to cross the border

Jordan’s security personnel shot an Indian citizen when he was illegally trying to enter another country. The person died in the incident. The Indian Embassy in Jordan said, ‘We have come to know about the tragic death of an Indian citizen in unfortunate circumstances. We are in touch with local authorities and are taking action on the case. Working closely with Jordan officials to take the dead body back to India. The person’s family has been informed of his death and all possible consular assistance is being provided.

According to a letter sent to the family of the deceased by the Indian Embassy in Amman, he was a resident of Kerala, who went to Jordan on a tourist visa along with three other people. Jordan’s security forces allegedly shot the person when he was trying to cross the country’s border illegally with one of his companions. Both were trying to enter the Israeli border from Jordan. The deceased has been identified as 47 -year -old Thomas Gabriel Perera, a resident of Thumba near Thiruvananthapuram.

Another 43 -year -old man named Edison, who was with the deceased, was allegedly injured by Jordan’s security forces. Edison is also a native of Thumba and returned to his home in Kerala two days ago. The incident occurred on 10 February five days after he went to Jordan. Both Thomas and Edison from the fisherman community were autorickshaw drivers.

The Embassy has learnt of the sad demise of an Indian national in unfortunate circumstances. The Embassy is in touch with the family of the deceased and is working closely with Jordanian authorities for transportation of mortal remains of the deceased. @MEAIndia

According to Thomas’s family, he received a letter from the Indian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, stating, ‘Thomas and another person were illegally trying to cross the border of Jordan in Karakak district. The security forces tried to stop them but they did not hear the warning. The guards opened fire on them. A bullet hit Thomas’s head and died on the spot. In a letter sent by the briefcase Pradeep Kumar at the Indian Embassy in Jordan, it is said that the Indian official will go to the hospital to verify Thomas.

Four people went to Israel on tourist visa

After verification, arrangements will be made to bring Thomas’s body to India. In the letter, the family has been asked to share the details of Thomas’s identity card. The families of Thomas and Edison in Kerala said that these two were among the four people who went to Jordan on a tourist visa on 5 February. He was helped by a Kerala resident working in Jordan. The border of Karakak district of Jordan is bordered by dead C in the west. Google Map shows that the boundary of Israeli from Karakak is very close.

According to Edison’s family, Jordan’s security forces kept him in the camp and treated him. A relative of Edison said, ‘He was shot on the sea shore. He later realized that he was in a camp of security forces, where he was treated after being injured. A few days later he was put in Jordan’s jail and was later sent back to India. According to the information, the other two people along with Thomas and Edison are in Jordan’s jail.
