UP status Pilibhit District Administration has started investigating the case after complaints of conversion of Christianity of Sikh community on a large scale. The administration said that the matter has been brought to the notice of the administration by a delegation of the Sikh organization, after which the investigation of the case has been started.

District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh said on Saturday, ‘A delegation of Sikhs met us on Friday and accused of illegal conversion of Sikhs on a large scale. I have directed the sub-divisional magistrate of Puranpur to investigate the case with the district police.

During the meeting held on Friday, members of the All India Sikh Punjabi Welfare Council claimed that recently around 3,000 Sikhs have been converted to Christianity.

‘Officials handed over the list to the administration’

He also handed over the list of 160 families to the officials and alleged that they were converted. The delegation member Harpal Singh Jaggi told the media, “Nepali clergy are forcibly converting people by giving temptation.”

He also mentioned an event held in February, in which 180 families allegedly returned home in Sikhism.

Jaggi claimed that such illegal conversions have been happening in the border villages of the area since 2020. He said that innocent victims were seduced by false promises of pressure, temptation and curing diseases.

In this case, an FIR was lodged against eight nominated and several unidentified accused at Hazara police station on 13 May on charges of illegal conversion.
