The weather has suddenly turned into the national capital Delhi and its surrounding areas. Late Saturday evening, there was a huge change in the weather within a few hours of the warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, there was strong winds, thunderstorms with torrential rains. Due to this, people were relieved by the heat, but people had to face problems due to filling water in many areas. At the same time, there is information about breaking trees in many places.

In fact, the Meteorological Department had warned of strong winds, heavy rains, and thunderstorms in many districts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan at a speed of 60 to 80 kmph. Under this, a red alert for Delhi-NCR was also issued. A few hours later, many areas of Delhi-NCR saw heavy rain.

Waterlogging in many areas, car drowned on Minto Bridge

Due to heavy rains, waterlogging situation arose in many parts of the capital. Areas like Minto Road, Humayun Road and Shastri Bhavan were flooded. A car was found submerged in water on Minto Bridge. This place is known for waterlogging every time after heavy rains. Due to this, traffic has also been affected.

Air services affected

The weather malfunction also affected air traffic. IndiGo informed on ‘X’ (East Twitter) that its flights have been affected due to bad weather and air traffic in Delhi. Passengers were advised to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport.

Giving another update after an hour, IndiGo said that the weather is improving in Delhi, but the air traffic still remains, due to which it is possible to affect flights.

SpiceJet and Air India warning

SpiceJet also said that due to weather failure, the departure and arrival of his flights could be affected and advised the passengers to get information about their flight. At the same time, Air India said that in Delhi as well as Amritsar and Chandigarh, flight services can be affected by Sunday evening and night due to thunderstorms and strong winds.

Weather change started late night

From Saturday evening itself, clouds started getting clouded in the capital and there was a fall in temperature. After about 2 o’clock in the night, there was sudden strong winds in many areas and then it started raining with thunderstorms. Heavy rains were seen in areas like South, West and outer Delhi and Noida, while drizzle and thunderstorms were seen in Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

Relief from heat

According to the Meteorological Department, the rain will provide relief from the heat. The day temperature is expected to be up to 37 degrees Celsius. However, this relief is not going to last long. The temperature in the capital will gradually rise gradually between May 22 and May 28 and on 26 and 28 May it can reach 40 degrees Celsius. Night temperatures will also increase, which can go up to 29 degrees Celsius by the end of the week on 22 May to 29 degrees Celsius.

IMD had already warned

The Indian Meteorological Department on Saturday clearly stated that the next few hours may cause rain in many parts of North India with strong winds. According to the IMD, this weather system is formed due to western disturbance, which is moving towards Delhi and then towards Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has given Delhi and NCR (Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad). A red alert of rain and strong wind was issued for many districts of Haryana and Rajasthan.
