India’s school education system is showing strong signs of progress, as per the latest UDISE+ 2024–25 report released by the Ministry of Education. From improved teacher strength to better gross enrolment ratios, lower dropout rates, and stronger infrastructure, the data reflects steady improvements that are reshaping how children across the country experience schooling.
However, there has been a steady drop in government school enrolments over three years, because “fertility rates have dropped in India” as per a government official.

INCREASED NUMBER OF TEACHERS PER CHILD
For the first time in any academic year, since the beginning of UDISE +, the total number of teachers has crossed the 1 crore mark in 2024–25.
The increase in teacher numbers is a critical step toward improving student-teacher ratios, ensuring quality education, and addressing regional disparities in teacher availability.
