Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in his aircraft on Thursday to take a long way to participate in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held in New York. During this time the aircraft used only the airspace of Italy and Greece and avoided flying over other European countries. Due to this, the journey became hundreds of kilometers long.

The arrest warrant of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is considered a major reason behind this unusual route. The ICC has accused Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant of alleged war crimes during the Gaza war. Israel has completely rejected these allegations, but many countries in Europe, which are members of ICC, have already said that if Netanyahu reaches their area, they will arrest them on the basis of international warrants.
