The two-member Bench said it did not wish to “influence” the Delhi Assembly elections by hearing the matter on Friday, a day ahead of the ballot.
The Supreme Court on Friday postponed hearing a plea to direct the Delhi Police to stop the Shaheen Bagh demonstrations against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens and clear the “obstruction” till the Delhi elections are over.
A Bench led by Justice S.K. Kaul suggested the court would not be celebration to any sort of pre-election story to garner votes a day before the surveys on February 8.
