In the southern Krasnodar region, local authorities said debris from a downed drone struck the Ilskiy oil refinery, sparking a fire that was later extinguished.

No casualties were reported.

In Tatarstan, an oil-producing region along the Volga River about 1,400 km (870 miles) from Ukraine, Russian media cited the governor’s press service as saying an energy storage facility in the city of Almetyevsk was hit, causing a blaze that was also brought under control.

A separate strike ignited a fire at an industrial site in the town of Lyudinovo in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow, regional governor Vyacheslav Shapsha said.

Ukraine’s military said it had carried out the strikes in Krasnodar and Tatarstan.

Kyiv has stepped up attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in recent months, seeking to disrupt revenues that help fund Moscow’s military operations in Ukraine.
