Police has revealed the theft of jewelery worth Rs 4 crore that took place during Navratri in Anand Niketan area of Delhi. In this case, the driver of the victim woman has been arrested from Rajasthan. 30 year old Mahendra Dan is a resident of Nagaur, Rajasthan. He was working as a driver in the woman’s house for the last four years. Taking advantage of the trust, he made away with jewelery worth crores.
The victim woman had lodged a complaint on September 28 about jewelery missing from her house. The case was very complicated in the initial stages, because there were no signs of forced entry or breaking of the lock in the house. Then the police started examining the technical evidence in detail. The police resorted to field surveillance, technical analysis and manual intelligence. After this, gradually the needle of suspicion started pointing towards Mahendra Daan.
Police investigation revealed that during Navratri, when the owner had gone out of the house, Mahendra saw the opportunity and opened the locker. He had complete knowledge of the location of the locker and the activities inside the house. He was facing financial crisis for a long time. After the theft incident, instead of leaving the job in panic, he continued doing his duty as usual. This way no one even suspected him.
