A case of lapse in security of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who came to inaugurate the overbridge in Gorakhpur, has come to light. Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation Supervisor Arvind Kumar was suspended after the video of this incident, which took place during the inauguration of Gorakhnath Overbridge on December 20, went viral.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was in his hometown Gorakhpur on December 20 to inaugurate the overbridge built near the Gorakhnath temple. During this time, a major lapse in his security came to light. As soon as he got down from the car, a cow moved towards his vehicle, which created panic among the security personnel. After its video surfaced on Sunday, officials ordered an investigation and suspended a supervisor of the Municipal Corporation.
In the video, MP Ravi Kishan was seen getting down from the car first. After this, as soon as the Chief Minister alighted, the cow came near, on which alert security personnel surrounded it and chased the cow away. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal ordered an internal inquiry after the animal entered the security cordon. This is the second case of lapse in security of CM Yogi within a month. Preliminary investigation found negligence on the part of Municipal Corporation Supervisor Arvind Kumar, who was suspended. He was responsible for monitoring civil orders in the area.

Gorakhpur Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal said that any laxity in VVIP security will not be tolerated and the arrangements will be reviewed and tightened so that this does not happen again. Opposition leaders have often raised the issue of stray animals in Uttar Pradesh, including Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh Yadav said in a post on X, ‘If there is negligence in the security of the Chief Minister, then what can be said about the safety and protection of the common people under the BJP rule?’
Earlier on December 2, during the ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0’ program at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, an intoxicated person broke the security cordon and moved towards the stage, where CM Yogi was sitting. That person was caught by the commandos deployed for the security of the CM. Varanasi Additional Police Commissioner Vidush Saxena had said that the youth was identified as Joginder Gupta, who sells water at the city station. He is addicted to alcohol and had reached the venue drunk. Joginder is also suffering from mental stress and is undergoing treatment.
