1.52am Iran’s remaining leadership targeted in new Tehran strike: reports By Ellen Connolly
Israeli forces targeted a building in which Tehran’s Assembly of Experts was meeting to choose Iran’s next supreme leader, Israeli sources told media outlets.
The Israel Defence Force told news agencies the building was “flattened” in the attack.
Fox News claimed the strike occurred during “a meeting in Tehran where what’s left of the leadership was meeting to choose a new leader”, citing a senior Israeli official.
Iran has not confirmed the strikes or reported casualties, and independent verification remains unavailable as fighting continues across the region.

The UN human rights office has urged what it called the forces behind a deadly attack on a girls’ school in Iran to investigate and share insights into the incident, without saying who it believed was responsible.
“This is absolutely horrific,” a UN spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani told a Geneva press briefing.
Shamdasani said photos from the scene captured “the essence of the destruction, despair and senselessness and cruelty of this conflict”.
